J&K Aquatics Opens for Business in North Petherton

J & K Aquatics, one of  the largest aquatic distributors in the UK, is gearing up for the formal launch of their new 32,000sqft distribution warehouse, retail and wholesale shop and offices, project managed by Allen Construction Consultancy.

The launch, taking place from 5pm on Thursday 21^st November, will see invited guests from the Somerset business community, local councillors, and individuals involved in the development of Sedgemoor.

“J &K Aquatics began back in 1984 as a retailer based in the Wellington Garden Centre and in 1994, we moved to a larger site situated near the M5 motorway in Taunton. Since then, our success has largely been based on our customer service – doing what we say we will for our customers - and having a really good range of interesting niche products”, said owner and founder Paul James.

Paul started the company with a friend for around £1000, and it quickly went from a sideline to a serious business. The new warehouse in North Petherton, Somerset, will provide a better environment for staff and customers, and Paul hopes retail and trade customers will be encouraged to visit the new premises.

Paul said, “I’ve been considering new premises for a long time, as there are some significant restrictions in our current building. George Allen was recommended to me, and I instantly knew he was ‘my kind of guy’. I was particularly impressed when he priced his expertise based on a fixed fee rather than a percentage of a cost he was trying to reduce.”

In addition to George, the Allen Construction Consultancy team also includes Paul Quinney as Project Manager, holding regular site meetings and keeping the programme on track, and Paul Ward as Site Foreman.

Paul James says, “Success in a recession requires thinking outside the box. While others were waiting, we’ve been investing and recruiting. This sort of can-do attitude it what separates Allen Construction Consultancy from the others, too”
