The Project
Allen Construction Consultancy was appointed by Walsall Council to help them and Education Walsall deliver a new Surestart Childrens Centre and Nursery for the area of Birchills and North Walsall. The project was previously beset by delays due to the difficulties in securing a suitable site until one was finally agreed.
Our Role
Allen Construction Consultancy undertook a multi-disciplinary role as architect, project manger, employers agent, menchanical and electrical engineer and planning supervisor. We were able to advise the council that the favoured procurement method should involve a Design and Build route contained with a 'modular' construction method to enable earlier occupation in order to maintain the securing of funding from DfES and the New Opportunities Fund (NOF).
The Outcome
The project delivered a facility to be utilised by many diverse community groups but in particular to provide a 52 place day nursery, créche, childcare, health advice to provide family support and enable a training facility for parents. This project typifies the fast-track nature of work delivered by using the most advantageous construction and procurement methods available.
