Construction started at Calleva’s new Bridgwater office, factory and technical centre

Calleva, the Bridgwater based and family-run nutrition and food ingredients business, has broken ground on their new 20,000 sqft R&D, production, packing and order fulfilment facility, project managed by Allen Construction Consultancy.

Established in 1993, Calleva has developed a reputation for being “clever with ingredients” and creating tailor-made products to meet customers’ needs. This ranges from sports nutrition and wellbeing goods to ingredients for supply to the food and beverage industries, and their success has prompted the need for larger, purpose built premises.

“Calleva has an excellent heritage in food technology and new product development, and over the last decade we have seen a marked increase in people taking a real interest in the quality of the food, drinks and supplements they consume. We are an Official Nutrition Supplier to our local team, Somerset County Cricket Club, one of the leading teams in UK cricket and semi-finalists in the World T20 Champions League 2011 season”, said owner and founder Clive Griffiths.

The new facility will offer greater space, improved work flow for better efficiency, additional production lines, and enhanced administration and product development areas. Clive said, “I’ve been considering new premises for a long time, and Allen Construction Consultancy was recommended to me by our new neighbours, J&K Aquatics, whose recently opened facility was completed by Allen Construction Consultancy in 2013. I instantly knew that this was an organisation who understood the unique requirements and complicated nature of what we need to achieve.”
